Shit, even Adobe products don't work as well as they used to (I get about 66% less crashes on my new PC now), and that was Apple's main argument for creatives to switch I can respect people more if they just admit "I like showing it off" or "I pay for the brand" than anybody who talks themselves into believing Macs are superior in any way outside of OS implementation - and even then, the biggest argument I saw for Macs while working there was a lack of viruses, which MS has done phenomenally well with). I just don't understand how people can justify it anymore. That still doesn't come close to the computing power of my laptop PC.

Let's assume you can double your potential output just b/c Mac OS is so well implemented.

I paid the same for my laptop (which are noticeably more for the same specs) and have a 6GB 1060, 16GB of 2666 RAM, a 512GB NVMe drive, a 1TB storage drive, 144hz 1080p screen, and 6 core processor.

How can anybody not be outraged when paying $11mhz RAM? no graphics card? IMac Pro starts at $5k and has 2666mhz RAM, a mechanical drive, a VEGA video card?!Įven the regular iMacs. haha.īesides everything software/design related, the specs themselves aren't even that impressive. You have no idea how happy I am to see somebody else in my camp. And if anything happens I know I can get it repaired at a fraction of what Apple charges. I started missing the OS a little bit less, and now after 3-4 months I have zero desire to every go back to Apple PC's until their costs come down or their performance drastically improves. So I made the painful decision to switch back to PC. That means I've also seen it's downfall as well (in terms of customer priorities over money, etc). I even worked at Apple for a year when the iPhone first came out just because I loved the company that much. I've just been really disappointed in recent years since the iPhone sucked the soul out of Apple to the point they just don't care about service anymore. That's an absurd expectation to me, and really insulting to their customers (of course it's not to them, they're still buying the dang things.

I also can't stand the idea of paying thousands of dollars for a machine and only being able to have that one configuration for the lifespan of that machine. And I'm not willing to risk being charged for a new $700 logic board on a $15 cable, no matter how small the odds. And that's just not a risk I'm able to take. After my warranty w/ Apple, if something went wrong, there's no way I'd be able to get it repaired with any expectation of reasonable charges. More importantly though is I need my comps to last longer than a couple of years. Either way, the performance that was paid for is wasted).

But then I started looking at performance for cost (not raw specs), and I just couldn't justify buying another Mac after the years of "form before function" designs (for example, instead of thermal throttling a Mac - which would 100% happen to every MBP - Apple put software in the OS to throttle back the voltage on the chip before it reaches max temp. I was so ready to go get my shiny new Mac. My 9 year old MBP finally took a dump a few months ago. Honestly, and I know this probably won't get me anywhere and downvoted to hell but, have you thought about switching to PC? Looking for something more local?
